Personal tinyurls
I’ve just found out that the TinyURL service (www.tinyurl.com) now allows you to create your own custom links.
So rather than creating a tinyurl such as http://tinyurl.com/6kst4b you can have http://tinyurl.com/my-blog (well, you can’t anymore as its taken!).

Stuart, … or, it seems you may be able to create your own tinyurl-like link shortener/customiser using an open service:
Open replacements for Twitter and more importantly, Tinyurl
http://oxfordrepo.blogspot.com/2008/07/open-replacements-for-twitter-and-more.html
Then you could have http://something.com/my-blog
It depends on which bit of the link you most want to customise
