Hi Michael,

DSpace doesn't really do anything like that right now (e.g. FRBR), so it isn't easy to make multiple representations available with different metadata. If you're able to use a single item with a single set of metadata, then you can assign different access rights to different files that are associated with it.

Thanks,

Stuart

Can a single research record with multiple representations ie publishers copy, post-publication versions have their access managed separately ? Ie post publication version available now, publishers copy available in 12 months ?

can a representation have it's own metadata ?

regards

re: dspace.log
Also changed was defaulting to DailyFileAppender, over RollingFileAppender.

Which means that your log files will be saved as dspace.log.2010-02-11, ... dspace.log.yyyy-mm-dd as opposed to log files rolling over, and falling off the cliff with dspace.log.0, ... dspace.log.500, so no more chance of losing precious log files. This is in strict accordance to the Principle of least surprise.

Also, with SOLR statistics added, thats another place that is keeping track of view/download/bot activity.

Hi Garret,

That JIRA issue is still awaiting a patch to be developed, and the comments left at the end of the page (http://jira.dspace.org/jira/browse/DS-396) suggest that MIT are working on this. I suspect the patch should be quite small, so will either be easy to apply to your DSpace installation once it is released, or it will no doubt be included in the next release (e.g. 1.6.1 or 1.7 etc).

Thanks,

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

Like many repository managers I have some concerns about how well DSpace repo content is getting by Google Scholar (sharpened by some surprising trends in the latest rankings http://repositories.webometrics.info/top400_rep_inst.asp ). Did the suggested Google metatag capability [ http://jira.dspace.org/jira/browse/DS-396 ] make it into the build?
